Senator Dick McCormack (standing at left) recounts his experience interrogating the provisions of Act 46 and ultimately arguing and voting against it during last year's legislative session. During this discussion, he stated "I take no pleasure in how many people are unhappy with thisÉ I think Act 46 was a reasonable response to the problem of high property taxes. I think we've got a problem here, and I think we're going to be able to deal with it.". Specifically discussing school consolidation, he went on to say "I am reluctant to see small schools pressured to close, if a community wants to close a school, I think there's nothing stopping themÉ I do believe very strongly it should be a local decision."
