Exam by Fire | Students enrolled in Vermont Tech's new basic welding course had final exams Tuesday evening, but it involved a welding torch rather than pencil and paper. Pictured here, Erik Tillberg of Stowe makes a butt weld, joining two pieces of metal together end to end.
Offered through the Institute for Applied Agriculture and Food Systems, the students’ work was examined through a visual inspection as well as a test for structural integrity. The next basic welding class begins April 8 and is open to the public to enroll. (Herald / Tim Calabro)
