A BEAUTIFUL MIND | Mathematician and artist Paul Calter led a final tour of his recent retrospective at Vermont Technical College with family and friends last Saturday. For over half a century Calter has contemplated the mathematical landscape, exploring and celebrating its manifold manifestations in time and space, through the teaching of mathematics, authoring over a dozen mathematics text books and highly praised texts on the relationship between mathematics and art. Three of Calter's outdoor sculptures grace the VTC campus. A fourth, "Cubing the Sphere," has been proposed. "It would be wonderful to see that piece come into being. You never know what the future will bring," commented the artist. (Herald / Bob Eddy)
