The RUHS jazz band had a special guest Tuesday: Craig Harris, longtime jazz trombonist, who performs this week with the Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble in Hanover, stopped in to work on improv and talk music with the class. Harris urged students to listen to the rest of the band while improving on a scale, comparing the process to democracy. "You gotta ask," he said, "how can we abide by our rules and regulations and still do what we want to do?" (Herald / Tim Calabro)
