PANDA COW | Since August 23, when Mei Xiang gave birth to to a healthy panda cub, Tian, the National Zoo's internet 'panda cam' has topped the popularity charts. Not any more: mom and baby panda went off the air with the government shutdown this week. Herald readers looking for their 'panda fix,' might want to drive up to Bill Brainard's place in Bethel Lympus where there's a belted Galloway that looks panda-esque from certain angles. This fellow's name is Mortimer, but we couldn't help thinking, if he was named 'Panda' we could all go to see a real 'Panda' in the Brainard pasture! (Herald / Bob Eddy)
