Fifth- and sixth-graders from Braintree Elementary School spent Monday morning planting trees with the White River Partnership. The kids planted about 150 trees and shrubs along the Second Branch at Fat Rooster Farm, where water has eroded more than fifteen feet of land since farmers Jenn Megyesi and Kyle Jones moved in in 1998. About 1500 trees will be planted as a buffer along the edge of the river to help prevent erosion and to improve the quality of the water. (Herald / Tim Calabro)
