SURVIVOR This little deer, a frequent visitor in the back yard of the Randolph home of Keith Mosher and Janet Roberts, is delighted to find a patch of edible grass around this trunk.
ItÕs been a tough life so far. The fawn was one of twins born to a doe who was shot during bow season last November. The other twin had to be destroyed by a warden after breaking a front leg. The little survivor first was attracted to the shoveled path to the birdfeeder, where a bit of last yearÕs grass was available to nibble. Enough grass is now showing up that Roberts has hopes that the fawn will make it through one of VermontÕs toughest winters. (Photo by Keith Mosher)
