HALF A LIFETIME | Penney Young, manager of Belmain's in Randolph, has worked at the store for 28 years this spring. "That's half my life," she reflected last week, remembering the "great old days" woking with Janet Kirby and Joyce Winslow. "Do you remember the wonderful wide staircase that led to all the Woolrich products on the second floor," she asked, fondly remembering times before the ’90s fire that leveled the old Ben Franklin and, without supreme firefighting effort, would have destroyed the entire block between Main, Pleasant, and Merchant's Row.
