BIRTHDAY PORTRAIT | It looked for all the world as if Abe himself had walked into the offices of The Herald on Presidents' Day, Monday. David Atkinson of Braintree, decked out in an authentic period stovepipe hat, just as Lincoln wore, (borrowed from Mim Herwig in Randolph Center) stepped from the pages of history into the photography studio. "It's the costume I wore for the Chandler Valentine's Day benefit last week," quipped Atkinson, adding, "I wanted to get a portrait today, because I'm shaving off the beard to play the part of Diana Ross in a musical number next week." We doubt the resemblance will be as striking! (Herald / Tim Calabro & Bob Eddy)
