Explosive Sound | Jonathan Billow, a junior in the RTCC Criminal Justice/Public Safety program at RTCC, picked up a friend's acoustic guitar and was smitten at the age of thirteen. Sixteen guitars of his own later, he wails away in the styles of Hendrix, Chet Atkins, John Lee Hooker, and many others.
Billow's “go to” ax is a 2007 Nashville Fender Telecaster signed by Buddy Guy. It's a beautiful piece, though two in his collection do turn more heads when he plugs them in to play.
Jonathan's father, Matt has created two guitars incorporating an oil can and a wooden WW II British ammo case.
“I made the oil can ax first,” says Billow. “Blues artists have used whatever came to hand for more than a century, and this one is decorated with Tin Man images, one from Baum's original 'Wizard of Oz.' I gave John the ammo ax just before Christmas.” (Herald / Bob Eddy)
