Chunks of handmade colored glass are arranged in the pattern of Mix’s choosing. Mix creates these bits cutting them from a solid cane, or very long strand of glass, which he melted from its constitute compounds. Making the cane can take days as each color is added and stretched out. A cross section of this cane is cut to yield the multi-colored bits seen here. (Herald / Tim Calabro)
