Hard at Work | A crew works on the Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO) line at the corner of Rte.132 and Old Moses Road in South Strafford. According to Communications and Public Relations Manager Shana Louiselle, between 2020-2027, VELCO will replace an average of 28 structures per year on their Chelsea to Hartford line connecting central Vermont to the power from the Wilder Dam. This year, they are working between Route 132 in South Strafford and Turnpike Road in Norwich. The total cost of this electric grid infrastructure upgrade, which will replace around 70% of the structures on this line, is estimated to be $31.3 million. (Herald / Joh Freitag)
