West Randolph farming royalty is represented in this group photograph, taken by the Winterfest bonfire. At left is Daryl Breau , co-owner of Ayers Brook Dairy, cradling her son, Weston Reed Hooper. Next are Abby Sanders and her mom, Deb Armstrong Sanders of Bennington. Abby is the sister of Perry Armstrong, who with Lynn Armstrong is the current owner of Farr Farm, planning to redevelop the legendary early Vermont ski area first built and operated by farmer Harold Farr here in the 1930s. (The entire Hargrace Drive neighborhood was developed on the Farr Farm, "Hargrace" coming from the combining of Harold and Grace's names.) Finally, we see John Palmer's youngest daughter, Kimberly Palmer, Bloomy, who grew up on the remaining Farr Farm after her dad purchased the farm house and barns from Harold and Grace in the 1970s. Farr, Palmer, Armstrong, Breau, Hooper, Freeman, Rea: these are just a few of the family names connected with the history and resurgence of winter sport on this historic farm, one of the earliest locations of downhill skiing in the United States.
