Smoky Scene | Battling flames from late Saturday night and well into Sunday morning, firefighters from ethel, Barnard, Royalton, and East Randolph struggle to tamp down flames that lingered in the nooks and crannies in the upper reaches of the Whitaker House, in Bethel Village. Recently renovated, the house provided firefighters "no access" to the attic spaces. Instead, firefighters were forced to use a chainsaw to cut their way to the flames. (Herald / Dylan Kelley)
