Competing for the very first time in Arena Driving Trials, Saturday, Susan Salster, of Carragh Farm in Tunbridge, and her matched pair of Morgans won in every trial for training level pairs. Working with JMF Selkirk Shadow and CVMF Sunday Edition, Salster took the blue ribbons in dressage, cones, and driving hazards competitions, winning as well the Best Overall Score for training division.
Carragh Farm has fostered driving for years, under the hand of Maureen McCullough, but the sport is a new endeavor for Salster, who trained this winter with Lisa Singer in Aiken, South Carolina. Contacted by phone on Wednesday, both Salster and McCullough enthused, “We're really proud of the boys!” When not driving and tending to barn chores, they both serve as nurses at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
