Mini Art Installations | This fall, a 12' high stainless steel monolith made international news when discovered in a very obscure location in Utah's Canyonlands National Park. On a much smaller scale, art installations are popping up all over Vermont. Painted rocks seem to be turning up in unlikely places. The two pictured here were found earlier this month, one in Depot Square, the other next to The Underground Recording Studio behind The Huggable Mug on Pleasant St. Unlike the mysterious monolith, these artworks reveal their source. On their underside we learn they are created by a happy loosely knit consortium of hundreds of painted rock artists going by the facebook moniker "Vermont Rocks." Find one and you are free to keep it, or place it somewhere else. In either case, we are asked to publish a photograph of the find on Facebook.
