An adult Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus Viridescens) feeds on Wood Frog eggs at the south-facing edge of a vernal pool. The unique environments found in vernal pools provide seasonal habitat for many plants and animals, including important ecosystem indicator species such as this amphibian. (Herald / Seth Butler)
