Winter Banquet | Your Vershire correspondent was surprised to look out of the front door recently to see many visitors in the front yard. A flock of 40 or so turkeys was making its way through the dooryard and up the hill into the woods, eating who knows what from the paltry snow and ice. The lack of snow pack this year has enabled easy pickings for turkeys, thus far, and they seemed robust and ready for the winter ahead. (Herald / Laura Craft)
