In anticipation of the United Nations summit on global warming this week, Flood Wall Street protesters stormed barricades surrounding the heart of New York's financial district, laying blame for impending climate disaster on many of the world's wealthiest corporations. Of Monday's confrontation, where 106 were arrested, Gus Speth a resident of Strafford, environmental law professor at Vermont Law School, founder of the Natural Resources Defense Council, and environmental advisor to the Carter White House and the United Nations, said, “It's way past time when we should have acted on this. It's time to hit the streets in protest... I wish I had been there. I've been arrested in better places than Wall Street, I was arrested at the White House.” (Photo by Paul Weiskel)
