THE BUCKS STOP HERE | For Tyler Hill of South Royalton, the second Saturday of Vermont's rifle season is special. Last year, The Herald reported a then 14-year-old Hill, shooting his first buck, a seven-point trophy weighing 200 pounds. He was hunting with his father, Craig Braley, on Chelsea Mountain near the Tunbridge line. He took the buck at 10 a.m. with one shot from his youth .243 rifle. This year, at the same time and day of hunting season, on the same ridge at least a mile from the nearest road, Tyler, now 15, shot his second buck. Incredibly, the dressed weight of this eight-pointer is also exactly 200 pounds. The buck's rack has an almost 20 inch spread and is assured of a record-worthy Boone and Crocket scoring.
