HOME AGAIN | Marina Carleton and Chloe Sardonis were watching movies as rain fell on Sunday. August 28. "It was about noon when we started watching the water level," says Sardonis, adding, "It came so fast we were out and headed to my folks by 12:30." They returned the following afternoon, hiking in from an impassable section of Thresher Road in Braintree. "It was so bad all the way in, we thought we'd lost the house for sure, but the foundation kept it high and barely dry," smiled Carleton, taking a break from ongoing repair. All of their free range ducks and over half their chickens greeted them upon their return. (Herald / Bob Eddy)
