A crowd filled Stockbridge Elementary School's lunchroom last Thursday as VTrans officially announced the re-opening of Route 107, which was all but wiped away by Tropical Storm Irene in March. Though not quite complete, the major east-west highway, which connects the White River Valley with Rutland and points west, was opened to traffic before the new year. The speed limit on Route 107 has been temporarily lowered to 40 miles-per-hour and many sections have on-going work to the embankments above and below the roadway. (Herald / Tim Calabro)
