Words for Thirds | On Monday. Oct. 22, Beverly Wright and Dale Williams of Middle Branch Grange #463 in East Bethel brought dictionaries to the Bethel Elementary third graders, a tradition that has been around for ages. Williams and Wright also bring dictionaries to the Stockbridge Elementary third graders. Words for Thirds is a national program that gives a student dictionary to every third grader for them to keep. The dictionaries don’t just contain word definitions, but also include things like the longest word in the english language, all of the states, and all of the presidents. “It gives them a chance to do something hands on, they’re always doing computer stuff, and they do enjoy looking through it,” said Wright.
