Cooler & Clearer | Matthew Brault (left), passes pliers to his grandfather Alain Brault (center), while Jacques Martell of Berlin, shares a joke with them at the Brookfield Floating Bridge. Martell and elder Brault have been friends since childhood, and recently reconnected at a reunion of their 1964 eighth grade class, held at Abel Mountain Campground in Braintree.
Brault, who recently moved to South Carolina from his hometown, Orange, to stay near his children, is camping at Abel Mountain from May through September. He jokingly mused about his reason for returning to Vermont each summer since, saying, "I'm a hill person, not a flatlander." His grandson Matthew, whose team just placed second in his home state's junior bass fishing tournament, said he enjoys the fishing in Vermont, with its Òcooler weather, clearer water."
