Farmer Rita Champion and her 9-month-old son Francis Champion-Plotsky watered a tray of Bachelor Buttons in her new greenhouse at Stitchdown Farm in Bethel on April 21. Although a lot of farmers do not tend to grow this particular variety of flowers because of the difficulty involved in harvesting, Champion said Bachelor Buttons are both frost tolerant and edible, being particularly beautiful when sprinkled on salads.
